Billy Durant and the Founding of General Motors
On September 16, 1908, one of America’s best known companies was born. That was the day that Billy Durant founded General Motors. When the local gossips heard what he had done, some were shocked because Durant actually made his first fortune betting against cars: he was the largest maker of carriages in the U. S.

The Mice and Man
Power
In the book Mice and Men, there are too main characters named George and Lennie. Lennie isn’t the smartest character in the story. George is really Lennie’s parent or big brother. He’s able to tell Lennie what to do or not to do. In the book every time that Lennie is told by George to behave or don’t do a certain thing he listens.
I believe that George gets his power over Lennie by that Lennie isn’t able to figure things out on his own and George basically is like his big brother or his father. George is able to control Lennie’s mind, like when Lennie crushed Curly’s hand. Lennie didn’t want to fight him but George told him to fight back and then Lennie ended up crushing Curly’s hand.

Woman’s Roles
The women in the book Mice and Men are Curley’s wife, Carla, and Susy. They are represented as “whores” to the men. Especially Carla and Susy because they run a whore house. Curley’s wife is just “jail bait” to the men, that’s what the men in this book call them. The women don’t treat the elderly like that should. They don’t give them enough respect to them.
Carla and Susy are the entertainment to the men. Curley’s wife is just there for anyone and everyone. She talks about Curley and treats him wrong but doesn’t leave. She treats the men like they are just a piece of meat. Life isn’t really meaningful to them because they are “whores”.

The Disabilities
From the moment we learn why Lennie and George are on the road , we realize that Lennie’s combination of small thinking and big body is bad news. Lennie doesn’t know his own strength, but he’s also unable to gauge other people’s or animals weaknesses. Lennie is best described as childlike; he embodies the best characteristics of a childish mentality – innocence, exuberance, and earnest love and trust – but he also embodies the worst – unchecked anger, irresponsibility, and an inability to connect his actions to their consequences. Lennie vacillate almost as wildly as his actions. He inspires our sympathy when we learn how simply and earnestly he wants to take care of the rabbits. But, when he’s out of control, Lennie can be scary. Because Lennie is so quick to get emotional, so unable to be rational and so physically large, his feelings and lack of thought are bound to get him into trouble. Still, his innocence and helplessness make him a particularly endearing character.

The Elderly
The elderly in the book Mice and Men are candy and candy’s dog. They are just like family they go everywhere together and do everything. Candy has had the dog since he was a pup. Now he stinks all the time, has rheumatism. This dog is very old and the man say that it aunt doing the dog no good to live like that.
Candy was working on a machine and got his hand caught in it. Now he has a nub on his left hand witch dont make him useful. But Candy is like a push over because he lets the guys make the chose about his dog and candy doesn’t say anything about it. People i life have to make chooses that there not used to making. Candy doesn’t have any power at all he is the weak one but so are the other people in the book. They all dream about having land but never make it.
